Dr Alexandra Stroleny PhD, MSc, FHEA

Senior Lecturer

Dr Alexandra Stroleny is a senior lecturer and researcher for the Centre for Research on Employment and Work (CREW) and the Public Services International Research Unit (PSIRU). Prior to joining the University of 糖心Vlog in 2018, she worked as a researcher at NatCen – the National Centre for Social Research.

Her expertise is in mixed-method, cross-country comparative research on employment relations and human resource management (HRM), with a specific focus on healthcare in Central and Eastern Europe. She obtained her PhD at King's College London (KCL). Her doctoral thesis examined how distinct national institutional contexts shape HRM practice in public sector hospitals in Germany and the Czech Republic. During her time at KCL she was involved in EU-funded research projects on the impact of austerity and the role of service users in the public sector in Europe.

More recent research with colleagues examines how employers have managed the global health crisis and how this has affected employees. She is currently part of a research team investigating industrial action in the health and care sector.
